'I didn't feel like asking him for a single just to complete my hundred'; Sanju's response earns praise from fans
NEW DELHI: A stellar batting performance by Malayali cricketer Sanju Samson helped Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in yesterday’s IPL match. Chasing a target of 156 runs, CSK secured an easy win, with Sanju remaining unbeaten on 87 runs and guiding the team to victory.
Sanju missed out on his third century of the season by just 13 runs. However, his reaction after winning the Player of the Match award has drawn widespread attention.
“Centuries are always special. But today, I would have had to be a bit selfish to reach one. So, I decided to focus on winning the match. Also, the other batter was playing very well. So, I didn't feel like asking him for a single just to complete my hundred," Sanju said.
"I really enjoyed my batting. Staying not out and finishing the game gives more satisfaction. There are still a few matches left, so let’s see if I can get another three-digit score,” he added.
Fans have praised his words, with many appreciating his team-first approach.
Milestones are special, but the team’s victory is priceless 💛 The Sanju Samson mindset 🥹🫡#TATAIPL | #KhelBindaas | #DCvCSK | @ChennaiIPL | @IamSanjuSamson pic.twitter.com/PmaaRInAhA
