Tusker Shivam Lakshmi Ayyappan runs amok near Thrissur; panic spreads in neighbourhood

THRISSUR: A tusker named Shivam Lakshmi Ayyappan, brought from Kollam for a temple festival, ran amok in Thrissur. It is rumoured that the tusker ran away after a stray dog tried running towards it. The elephant created a tense atmosphere in Viyyur, crushing a car and overturning it with its trunk before heading to damage an auto. As it is a residential area, people in the neighbourhood are in panic. The incident took place this morning. Efforts are underway to tame the giant. From the visuals emerging, blood can be seen on the trunk of the elephant.

The elephant squad arrived at the spot, while efforts are underway to stop the rampage. Shivam Lakshmi Ayyappan is currently stationed in front of a house in the area. Forest Minister Shibu Baby John demanded immediate action in the incident.
