tea-

KOCHI: Spices, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, peppers, cumin, strawberries - so many unknown tea flavours. Serena, who has a master's degree in chemistry, is experimenting by applying these hidden tastes to tea. Serena and her husband Liju run a small tea shop called 'Dining Island' on Indira Gandhi Road, Wellington Island, Ernakulam, which sells 350 to 400 teas a day, priced from Rs 10 to Rs 75.

They serve more than 50 different teas, both local and foreign, and snacks with the same style. It is very busy from 7 am to 8 pm. The couple have three children: Sera Diya, Adnan Ibak, and Adam Alim.

Fruit and tea
Serena did not allow Liju, who has been in Dubai since 2009, to return after coming home just before Covid period. Serena, who then resigned from a sea food exporting company, opened a tea shop in the Port Trust's room seven months ago. The main ingredient in teas is spicy and fruity. Along with normal tea and spicy tea, there are also foreigners such as English breakfast, chamomile, green tea and white tea. All the dishes are prepared at home. The regulars are employees of institutions such as the customs office, Cochin port and the vaccine centre.
