1707 people yet to take vaccines, most people in Malappuram; Education Minister releases figures of unvaccinated teachers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty has released the figures of unvaccinated teachers in the state. A total of 1707 persons, including teachers and non-teaching staff, are yet to take the vaccines. Of these, 1,066 are from LP, UP and high schools.

The minister said that 200 teachers and 23 non-teaching staff in higher secondary schools have not taken the vaccines yet. 229 teachers in VHSE are yet to get vaccinated. Malappuram (201) has the highest number of unvaccinated teachers. Wayanad (29) has the lowest.

"I haven't said that the names of unvaccinated teachers will be publicized. The government does not want to mentally torture any teacher. However, people should know that several teachers are yet to take the vaccine. Our children should not suffer because of the negligence of the teachers," the minister said.

The minister said that all teachers should get vaccinated and that priority should be given to the health of the children.
