Kerala records 18,257 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, 25 deaths; test positivity rate at 16.77

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 18,257 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 16,762 persons developed the disease through contact including 1159 cases without an identified source of infection. 269 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 67 health workers contracted the disease on Sunday.

4565 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 93,686 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 25 deaths due to the virus on Sunday with the toll rising to 4929.

Kozhikode- 2560

Thrissur- 1780

Kottayam- 1703

Malappuram- 1677

Kannur- 1451

Palakkad- 1077

Thiruvananthapuram- 990

Kollam- 802

Alappuzha- 800

Idukki- 682

Pathanamthitta- 673

Kasargod- 622

Wayanad- 605

As part of the mass testing, 3,00,971 samples were collected on Friday and Saturday from different parts of the state. 1,08,898 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 16.77.

With the addition of 10 new regions and the removal of 2, there are 460 hotspots in the state.
