WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that it was his intervention to end the India-Pakistan conflict that saved the life of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He also alleged that if he had not intervened in 'Operation Sindoor,' around 35 million people could have been killed. Trump made these remarks while addressing a joint session of the US Congress.
"I ended 8 wars within the first 10 months of my administration. If I had not been involved, there would have been a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. Around 35 million people, including the Pakistani Prime Minister, would have died,” Trump said.
Trump also claimed that he played a role in ending several global conflicts, including the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Iran-Israel tensions, the Egypt-Ethiopia dispute, the India-Pakistan conflict, the Serbia-Kosovo tensions, the Rwanda–Democratic Republic of Congo conflict, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, and the Cambodia-Thailand tensions. However, India has repeatedly denied Trump’s claims about his involvement in Operation Sindoor.
Trump further accused Iran of being the leading country supporting terrorism. Trump said that around 32,000 people have been killed since protests began in Iran in December. He also stated that the United States would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. His remarks come at a time when tensions continue between Iran and the US in West Asia.
