POTHENCODE: A ninth-grade student died after falling from a multi-storey flat in Chenkottukonam. The deceased is Pranav (14), son of Pramod, who lives in Anjana Gardens Lane, Karyavattom. He is a ninth-grade student of Alan Feldman School, Kazhakoottam. Pranav fell from the 16th floor located in the second section of the 18-storey flat complex at around 5.45 pm yesterday. He was immediately taken to the Medical College Hospital by ambulance, but could not be saved.

This is the flat owned by Pranav's grandparents. The flat was closed because they were abroad. Pranav used to live in the same flat with his family. They moved to Karyavattom later. Pranav got off the school bus yesterday evening and walked to the flat in his uniform. Since the security knew the child, he let him in. This is the first time Pranav has reached the flat alone. It is not clear whether Pranav slipped and fell from the handrail or jumped. Only by checking the CCTV footage will it be clear how he fell. The front door was locked at the time of the incident. The Pothencode police have registered a case. The Pothencode police say that Pranav may have jumped from the window after reaching the flat, opening the door and locking it from inside. It is not clear how Pranav managed to get the key to the flat.

Pranav is good at studies. He is the only son of Pramod Vijayan, an employee of Technopark, and Renee, an employee of Palayam SBI. They are natives of Madathara, Kollam and settled in Kurishadi, Munumukku within the last year.
