'I thought Sanju Samson would be in it': Harsha Bhogle expresses support for Rajasthan Royals skipper who was left out of national squad

MUMBAI: Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has expressed support for Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, who has been left out of India's national squad for the England and South Africa series. Bhogle tweeted that Sanju and Tripathi were part of the team he had in mind and that he did not think KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant would be selected.

"In the team, I had played around with in my mind, I didn't have KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. I thought Tripathi and Sanju Samson would be in it. On Australian grounds, I still think Samson should be in a short list." he tweeted.

The Indian team for the England-South Africa series was selected today. Rohit Sharma will lead India in the Test series in England and KL Rahul will lead India in the T20 series in South Africa. In the T20 series, senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah have been rested. Many of the brightest young players in the IPL have been called up to the national team. When senior Cheteshwar Pujara returned to the Test squad, KS Bharat was named in the T20 squad along with Rishabh as wicket keepers. Pacer Umran Malik has also been named in the T20 series against South Africa.
