Food delivery worker refused to have sex with Safina; 27-year-old girl and friends broke ribs of hearing and speech impaired 

KOCHI: The ribs of a hearing and speech-impaired man were broken in the attack by a honeytrap gang. The 30-year-old man from Nallila, Kollam, was brutally beaten up by a gang of five, including a 27-year-old woman.

The first accused in the case, North Paravur Kuthiathode native Safina (Safina Shukkur-27), and other accused, including Tripunithura Irumpanam native Amal Venugopal (32), Vyttila Shine Road resident Rahul (23) and Maradu native Anand Murugan (29), were arrested by the Kadavanthra police within hours of receiving the complaint. The fifth accused is yet to be arrested. Safina and her gang had hatched a plan to call the man to a lodge in Panampilly Nagar, Ernakulam, and extort money by filming nude scenes.

The 30-year-old food delivery worker arrived in Kochi a few months ago. He was active on Instagram and became friends with Safina. Safina, who pretended to be in love with the man, invited him to the lodge with the aim of honey trapping. Although not ready at first, he finally gave in to Safina's insistence. The hearing and speech-impaired victim reached the lodge in Panampilly Nagar last Sunday.

Safina's boyfriend and friends were staying in a nearby room. Safina forced the food delivery worker to have sex with her, but he did not give in. Amal Venugopal and his gang barged into the room and brutally beat the disabled man. The assailants stripped him naked and filmed the incident. They took his ATM card, Aadhaar card, and money from his wallet and fled the lodge.
