THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A doctor of Mamal Hospital in Kattakada stepped forward denying the allegations of medical negligence in the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl due to breathing difficulties. Dr Arun Warrier denied the allegations of the child’s parents that her condition deteriorated after administering the injection. The dead is two-and-a-half-year-old Ayesha Fathima, daughter of Siddique of Chakkipara in Kattakada.

Ayesha is one among the twins. She was taken to the hospital for tiredness and breathing issues. After given steam inhalation, she was administered two injections. Her condition worsened soon after that and the child was immediately taken to Neyyar Medcity in an ambulance, but she was confirmed dead on reaching the hospital.

‘The child was experiencing severe breathing issues on reaching the hospital. Adrenaline was given as a precautionary measure to save her life in a situation where her health condition deteriorated. Even when the child was shifted to Neyyar Medcity, her pulse was weak,' Dr Arun Warrier told media. However, the family is firm in their stand that the child's death was caused by a serious lapse from the side of the hospital authorities.

The family has filed a police complaint against the Mamal Hospital in the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem. The police have recorded the statement of Ayesha's father and had started investigation.
