Kerala State Film Awards announced: Mammootty wins Best Actor award, Shamla Hamza named Best Actress
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 55th Kerala State Film Awards, 2024, have been announced, with Mammootty winning the Best Actor award and Shamla Hamza being named Best Actress. The critically acclaimed film Manjummel Boys, directed by Chidambaram, bagged the Best Film award. Actors Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Jyothirmayi and Darshana Rajendran won special jury mentions for their performances.
The Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value went to Premalu, while Fasil Muhammed, director of Feminichi Fathima, was honoured as the Best Debut Director.
The other major winners include: Best Screenplay: Chidambaram (Manjummel Boys) Best Cinematography: Shylu Khalid (Manjummel Boys) Best Male Playback Singer: KS Harisankar for “Kiliye” from Ajayante Randaam Moshanam Best Female Playback Singer: Zeba Tomy for "Aarorum" from Am Ah Best Lyricist: Vedan for "Kuthanthram" from Manjummel Boys
Best Music Composer: Sushin Shyam Best Background Score: Christo Xavier (Bramayugam) Best Costume Design: Sameera Saneesh
Best Character Artist (Female): Lijomol Jose Best Character Artist (Male): Soubin Shahir, Sidharth Bharathan
Special jury award for Best Film: Paradise
