'During shoot of Leo, Trisha told me she wasn’t interested in me playing her son'
Young Malayalam actor Mathew Thomas, who won the hearts of audiences with his memorable debut in Kumbalangi Nights, has continued to impress viewers through a series of remarkable performances. The talented actor also made his Tamil debut in the blockbuster film Leo, playing the son of superstar Vijay.
In a recent interview with Pearle Maaney, Mathew opened up about his experience working in Leo and sharing screen space with Vijay and Trisha. Recalling how he landed the role, Mathew said he initially couldn’t believe the offer was real.
“When they first called me, I couldn’t believe it. During the very first call, they told me I would be playing Vijay sir’s son. Later, I came to know that Trisha madam would be playing my mother. I was stunned when I heard it,” Mathew said.
The young actor also shared his first encounter with Vijay on set.
“I first met Vijay sir during the shoot. He asked me about my film Christy. Director Lokesh sir even clicked some pictures of us together. While shooting, Vijay sir and I used to laugh a lot—it was fun,” he added.
Mathew also recalled a light-hearted moment with actress Trisha during the shoot.
“On the second day, Trisha madam joked that she wasn’t interested in me playing her son. I replied that I too wasn’t interested in playing her son,” he said with a laugh. “At first, I even thought my character might be their adopted son. Overall, the shoot was a great experience.”
