E D Prasad and Manu Namboothiri selected new melsanthis for Sabarimala and Malikappuram temples

PATHANAMTHITTA: E D Prasad of Madathoorkunnil Eranoor Mana of Chalakudy in Thrissur was on Saturday selected as the new Melsanthi (chief priest) of the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple. He will be the chief priest for the next one year.

Kashyap Varma of Pandalam Palace picked the lot for the Sabarimala melsanthi. The draw was conducted in the presence of head priests, high court observer and the devaswom board president. There were 14 candidates in the final list for Melshanthi.

Muttathur Madom M G Manu Namboothiri was selected as the Malikappuram Melshanthi. He is a resident of Ayiramthengu at Mayyanad in Kollam.

Mythili K Varma of the Pandalam Palace drew the lot for the Malikapuram melsanthi. Both will take charge on the Vrishikam 1st.
