Senior BJP leader Chettoor Balakrishnan passes away
KOZHIKODE: Senior BJP leader and party national council member Chettoor Balakrishnan passed away. He was 80. He was suffering from old age ailments and was leading a retired life at Omassery in Kozhikode. He will be laid to rest at the premises of his house at 5 pm today.
He was BJP’s Kozhikode district president during the time of Marad riots. He had twice served as a member of Mukkam grama panchayat, president of Mukkam Service Cooperative Bank, member of BSNL advisory board, director of Kerala Grameena Bank, member of centre’s vigilance and monitoring committee, president of Erattakulangara Sree Krishna Temple and PTA president of Pratheeksha Special School. He retired from Malayamma AUP School.
He leaves behind his wife Padmavathy Teacher and children Siby Binoj (teacher of St Michael’s Higher Secondary School), Siby Anoop and daughter-in-law Dr Sini Binoj.
