'That man made a prediction about Dileep, we ignored it back then, but prediction turned out to be true'
Nandu is a well-loved actor among Malayalees. He has appeared in numerous films with stars like Mohanlal and Dileep. In a recent interview with a media outlet, he recalled an incident from a film shoot where someone made a prediction about Dileep.
"The entire shoot of the film Pidakkozhi Koovunna Noottandu happened in Thiruvananthapuram. In the movie, I, Yadu Krishnan, Jagannadhan mash and Dileep played the friends of Manoj K Jayan's character. At that time, Dileep was doing minor roles and was working as an assistant director to Kamal. All of us had small roles in the film.
One day, during the filming of a song sequence for the movie, we were on set but not involved in that particular shot—only Dileep was. As we stood nearby watching the shoot from a distance, an elderly man, probably around 90 years old, approached us. He wore a dhoti and had a sacred thread, and his body was smeared with bhasma. He was watching the shoot intently. After a while, he pointed to Dileep and asked, 'Who is that young man standing there?' We told him his name is Dileep.
The old man then said, 'He will rule Malayalam cinema one day.' Back then, we didn’t think much of it—just some old man saying things. But didn’t that prediction come true? Didn’t he reach the top level of Malayalam cinema? Didn’t he become a superstar? After Dileep rose to stardom, I once told him about the incident. He was shocked and said, 'Oh no! We must find him somehow. What a perceptive man he must have been!' But we don’t even know if the old man is still alive. We have no clue who he was,” Nandu shared.
