Late actor Nedumudi Venu is regarded as one of the finest actors in the history of Indian cinema. He had acted in over 500 films across Malayalam and Tamil. Now, director Alleppey Ashraf has come forward revealing some lesser-known aspects of this extraordinary artist’s life.

"I am reminded of an allegation raised by Thilakan chettan regarding the film His Highness Abdullah. Thilakan had repeatedly claimed in interviews and on TV channels that the character Udayavarma Thampuran from the film was promised to him by Sibi Malayil and Lohithadas.

Thilakan said that Nedumudi Venu, through cunning and manipulation, got Mohanlal to snatch that role away from him. When such a great actor like Thilakan made these accusations with great pain, it caused significant public disapproval toward Nedumudi Venu. Like everyone else, I too believed it.

But to find out the truth, I directly called the film’s director Sibi Malayil and asked him about it. Sibi said that such a thought had never even crossed his mind, and that he had never discussed this matter with Thilakan Chettan. He clarified that if there was any role that could have been offered to Thilakan, it might have been the one played by Thikkurissy chettan.

I then asked if Lohithadas might have made any such offer to Thilakan. To this, Sibi replied that Lohi always discussed things with him before speaking to anyone else. And besides, why would Venu need to snatch someone else's role? At that time, Venu had no shortage of opportunities — he barely had time to rest. He had no need to steal someone else’s role. Sibi concluded saying, 'I don’t know why such things were said,'" revealed Alleppey Ashraf.
