'Sir, let's begin work to whitewash Pahalgam terror attack'; Mohanlal trolled on social media
Mohanlal is under cyber-attack over his Facebook post condoling the Pahalgam terror attack. Malayalam’s most bankable actor and superstar getting trolled mercilessly is something unprecedented.
Many juxtaposed Mohanlal’s tweet condoling the Pahalgam terror attack with his latest film ‘Empuraan’, where the protagonist is portrayed as someone who went through training with Lashkar-e-Taiba. There was a huge uproar over the film, and Mohanlal was even forced to tender an apology after many took offence over the contested portrayal of the Gujarat riots of 2002 in the movie.
“My heart aches for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. It is painful to witness such cruelty. Taking the lives of innocent people can never be justified under any circumstances.
The loss to the families of the victims is beyond words. Please know that you are not alone. The entire nation shares in your grief. "Let's stand together without giving up on each other. Let's not give up hope that peace will prevail even in the darkness," Mohanlal wrote on Facebook.
A few of the caustic comments that reached the actor for his Facebook post:
- 'Beware of Saeed Masoods who come to India after training from Pakistan'
- Shall we not make another movie to justify this attack, Mohanlal sir?
- We loved you unconditionally, sir, but the decision to act in ‘Empuraan’ was the final nail in the coffin.
- Call Prithviraj, we should go for ‘Empuraan 3’ to whitewash the Pahalgam terror attack.
