DUBAI: Pakistan is reportedly withdrawing from the Asia Cup. The Pakistan cricket team has not yet left for the stadium to play the match, which is scheduled to start at 8 pm Indian time. The team is still at the hotel in Dubai.
Pakistan had demanded that Andy Pycroft be removed from the Asia Cup referee panel for his biased behaviour in their match against India. However, the ICC has taken the stand that Pycroft himself will officiate the UAE-Pakistan match.
There are indications that an official confirmation regarding Pakistan's withdrawal will be made soon. It is reported that PCB officials will meet the media.
If Pakistan withdraws, the UAE will join India in the Super Four stage from Group A. The PCB had earlier announced that it would withdraw from the match against the UAE if Pycroft was not removed from the refereeing panel. The Pakistan Cricket Board has informed the ICC about this in writing.
