K C Venugopal faction claims support of 43 MLAs for CM race
NEW DELHI: As discussions on the new chief minister of the state are ongoing, K C Venugopal faction has expressed confidence. They have assured that KC will have the support of the majority of the MLAs in the legislature party.
35 of the 63 Congress MLAs are with Venugopal. Moreover, they claim that eight of the ten MLAs of ‘A’ Group will support them. The KC faction also believes that they will get the support of three independents. The KC group says that if the chief minister is decided based on the support of the MLAs, KC has a clear majority.
When Congress observers reach Kerala, 43 MLAs will express their stand in favor of K C Venugopal. Meantime, the KC faction is not expecting the support of the Deepak Joy (Tripunithura) and A Vincent (Kovalam), ‘A’ Group MLAs who have won. However, if KC wants to become the chief minister, the support of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi is also needed.
