Heavy rain and wind likely in Kerala till 17th; Yellow alert in Thiruvanthapuram tomorrow
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department predicted a possibility of monsoon arrival in the south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands by Saturday. It is reported that a strong low-pressure area is present over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in isolated places in Kerala from today to the 17th. The Meteorological Department also warned that there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 50 kilometres per hour in isolated places in Kerala and Mahe for the next five days.
Today, a yellow alert was declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Tomorrow, districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are under yellow alert.
