'Chennithala was the deserving candidate, VD Satheesan's CM post signals Muslim League tightening grip on governance
KOTTAYAM: NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair said V D Satheesan's CM post is a sign that the Muslim League is tightening grip on the governance. When considering the criteria, the person who was at the forefront should have been chosen. While talking to the media, Nair also said that democracy has been destroyed.
‘If this decision was to be taken, there was no need to make the people suffer so much. No norms were followed. The Congress surrendered to the League and this is very bad. If it was a decision according to democratic etiquette, this would not have happened like this. If this was the case, there would be no need to wait so long. The Muslim League was the decisive party among the constituent parties. The pressure exerted by the League was not right. This same pressure will also be there in the selection of ministers.
The criteria were not followed. I opined because all three were qualified. If we look at the opinions of the constituent parties, then there is no point in saying that the decision is based on the majority of the MLAs. Where did the constituent parties get the votes from? Aren't these votes the same?
Sadiq Ali believes that VD Satheesan will lead for a better future. None of us believe. This is a sign of the League's grip on power. When looking at the criteria, a person who is at the forefront in every way should have been chosen.
Who took the number of people who say they want Satheesan to lead? If that is the case, shouldn't it be a majority? The NSS is saying these things because it has broken the precedents of the Congress. The Left is going its own way without breaking them.
Democratic etiquette has not been followed here. The NSS did not respond to any unnecessary matters. It has responded now because communalism has become acute. Personally speaking, Ramesh Chennithala is the one who is fit to be the chief minister. He is being continuously ignored. When you look at the criteria, he is at the forefront, clarified Nair.
