Generate profit on unit basis; KSRTC with plan to make corporation profitable
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC is preparing a plan to make the corporation profitable along with launching new buses. The aim is to generate profit on a unit basis. For this, a separate revenue enhancement plan will be implemented for each unit. Efforts are being made to make each unit stand on its own feet through this.
Reports including routes operated, revenue, loss-making buses and ways to make them profitable have been requested from all units. The management evaluates that the recent reforms have increased revenue. Currently, 50% of the units are making an operating profit.
The daily revenue from bus services is currently between Rs 6.5 crore and Rs 7 crore. During the Sabarimala season, the revenue crossed Rs 8 crore. Rs 9 crore was received as revenue once.
