KSRTC

For years, there has been a prejudice that if a department faces a crisis, that department should resolve it on its own. This is not true. Each department can easily overcome financial and administrative crises with the cooperation of various departments. If that fails, the help of the private sector can also be sought. The government, departments and the private sector should work together rather than distancing themselves. The ultimate goal is to improve the lives of the people. Adopting this idea, the decision taken by KSRTC to allow private individuals and institutions to sponsor buses should be welcomed wholeheartedly.

Big crises are overcome when faced collectively. Financial crises have been ubiquitous with KSRTC, and there are many reasons for it. Even those in power have viewed KSRTC as a department that always reaches out for help from the government. With the advent of the idea that people can sponsor buses, KSRTC is opening new avenues to climb out of the debt mess. This action plan will help in providing better travel facilities in rural areas and in replacing old vehicles with new ones. KSRTC has issued detailed guidelines for this.

In addition to local bodies, cooperatives, trusts, social organisations, clubs, and business establishments, buses can also be donated using CSR funds. Newly built and modern buses should now be purchased. Similarly, KSRTC will change only if AC, good cushion seats, and other attractive and functional vehicles are launched on the roads. With the advent of the Priyadarshini service, KSRTC have gone through an overhaul, and more people have started using public transport.

This favourable situation can be expected to lay the foundation for the success of the new idea. Those who sponsor buses can place advertisements. Such advertisements are also accepted on buses in foreign countries. For this, electronic boards can also be considered. Metro trains have proven that public transport can be attractive if it is modernised and presented in the right way. If we provide comfortable travel at a low price, and in this era when fuel prices are rising unbearably, the development and progress of KSRTC will become a need for the locals, and it is good that such new ideas continue to emerge.
